How I broke some rich Chilean guy’s leg
I’ve decided since not much is happening right now I’d share a story that happened a while back.
This happened while my brother, and I went to Chile to visit my sick mother. It was winter, and my cousin Carlos took us snowboarding to the Andes. I can’t really recall the name of the place we went to.
The resorts in Chile are filled with some of the richest people in Chile, and lots and lots of tourists. At any rate, I went down a really steep hill that I shouldn’t have gone down - I was hauling ass - when I spot some guy who had stopped right smack in the middle of the lane. This wouldn’t be a problem most of the time, but to the side we had a huge cliff, and to the other side a bunch of huge rocks. As I got closer I figured I’d slow down a bit just to be safe, but as I was trying to stop I noticed I was getting closer, and closer to crashing into the rocks, so I steered the other way, and got really close to the cliff. I over corrected again, and sweeped the guy right off his skies. I’m pretty sure he did a 360 in the air, and landed I don’t know how. The guy was in the snow swearing/crying.
I felt kind of bad for a moment because his kids were there watching their father cry. Then he started accusing me of being irresponsible or something, but I told him “Accidents happen” and I took off. I didn’t want to stick around so he could get my name and information. But I saw him later on the day… being carried away in one of those little beds by the snow patrol. I like to think that I some how saved him from a worse fate. Like - by getting hit by me I stopped him, and his whole family from getting killed on their way back home in a car wreck.
The funny thing is - that for a while - I truly convinced myself of this. That somehow getting his leg broken saved him from himself :/
